The hardest part for me is not falling back into old habits.
Last year, I went from 267.6 lbs to 200.4 lbs between 1/22/24 and 10/2/24—67.2 pounds lost in just over 8 months! I maintained that weight for a while and even ran my first (and possibly only) 15K trail run on 11/9/24. It was 10.08 miles, and I finished in 2:21:50, averaging a 14:04 mile pace.
But after that, I hit a five-month slide. My weight climbed back up, reaching 247.6 lbs on 3/31/25. Since then, I’ve been working my way back, and as of today, 5/5/25, I am officially restarting my journey at 236.2 lbs.
I know drastic weight swings are not ideal, but that is just how I am wired—all or nothing. It is not the healthiest mindset, which is exactly why I need to stay ALL IN. When I am, everything improves: my mood, my energy, my mental clarity, my physical health. I feel like the best version of myself when I am locked in.
The method that works best for me is OMAD Carnivore—One Meal A Day, all animal-based. I know that might sound extreme or hard to comprehend for some, and that is okay. What I have learned most through this process is not to let food control me.
Think about how much time people spend each day just thinking about food—what to eat, when to eat, where to eat, planning breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. It’s constant. And then look at how people feel after a meal—especially lunch. Most are not energized; they are sluggish and reaching for an afternoon pick-me-up just to make it through the day.
This approach has helped me break that cycle. It is not for everyone, but it is what keeps me clear, focused, and in control.
