This word has a lot of negative connotations associated with it. I think when framed right it can be really powerful. To me the key ingredient is a genuine relationship where the other person has nothing to gain, and wants to see you be successful. I will talk about 3 people that have helped me with this.
Diet - My first person that has really encouraged me is Sonia. She is always so positive and just encourages me with ideas to eat better. Best of all she has done Keto before and is an excellent cook. She has given me so many ideas, and every time I make something she is very complementary. She, always has a coupe tips or new variations I can try, which I completely embrace because I am not a natural cook. Today, I started off with my bulletproof coffee today. Since I have not been to the dreaded grocery, grabbed lunch from Racetrac, two All Beef Hotdogs, no buns, a little sauerkraut and spicy mustard. As you can tell, this is my go to lunch in a crunch. I did stop by the grocery store on the way home. Got some stuff to make some Avocado Deviled Eggs, Chinese Smashed Cucumber Salad, and an Avocado Egg Salad. Tonight, I made the Avocado Deviled Eggs, and consumed 8 of them (4 eggs). So, I estimated my total calories for today were around 1,394 and that contained 127g of fat (82% of my calories).
Exercise - This is where the second accountability partner comes in to play. This is a guy that regularly encourages and motivates me to workout. I typically, do not feel motivated to wake up at 5 AM to workout. Lewis is a guy, who embraces the David Goggins idea of "Do Hard Things." He is always doing personal challenges to push his limits. Right now we are working out every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I always feel exhausted, but better about my day after a workout. Today we did the Deck of Cards challenge. A good shuffle of the deck, set timer for 30 minutes, then go! Turn one card at a time and do the assigned exercise. Clubs = Situps, Spades = Squats, Diamonds = Push Ups, Hearts = Pulling using TRX bands. Jacks, Queens, and Kings = 10 reps. A 2, 5, 9 also added a run to the near by stop sign and back. So, a 5 of Diamonds would equal 5 Push Ups and run to the stop sign and back, King of spades would equal 10 Squats, and so on. We did this for 30 minutes, and them did 16 Navy Seal Burpees to finish out the workout.
Results - A big shout out to my friend Gary. We have been friends for a long time. And, this is someone that just wants the best for me. We have done several weight loss challenges over the years. We started one earlier this year. He was having a lot of success, but I was not All In yet. He called me out, and we set up a daily weight check text. It got me focused and losing weight. Today I weighed in at 226.4 pounds. Since, I started this blog, I have put on 0.4 pounds. However, I have had sausage the last couple days, and that seems to stall my weight loss. Also, I have been eating more calories, as I have been trying to focus on my fat/protein/carb ratios.
